Release Day!: Carter Reed 2 by Tijan Book 2 in the Carter Reed Series

More Carter Reed?  Yes, please!

Blurb:

Carter bought his way out of the mafia to protect Emma, but when an old ghost returns to the Mauricio Family, a chain of events starts that can harm everyone. While Carter must decide to return to the Mauricio Family or not, a face that is oddly familiar to Emma comes into her life. She’s given the chance to discover more about her family while tensions between the rivaling Mauricio and Bertal Family comes to a head in an explosive way. The truce is officially off, and when the two worlds collide, Carter’s decision is made.

He didn’t start this war, but he will end it.

He will do anything to protect Emma.

Excerpt One

We’d been learning how to shoot for a couple of months now. It had been Theresa’s idea, and these sessions had started to replace our wine nights. It had also been her idea to have Noah be our instructor. Carter was the better shot, but Theresa still liked to keep her distance from him. He still made her uneasy.
Amanda had asked her about it one night at their apartment when I’d gone to the bathroom. I stopped in the hallway when I’d overheard Theresa explain, “It’s not that I don’t like him. It’s just…he’s a killer, Amanda. He’s dangerous. I know he loves her, and I know if anyone is going to protect her, it will be him, but…” She’d sighed. “I don’t know. He’s known as the Cold Killer. It’s hard to get past that, even though I know Emma loves him so much.”
Amanda had asked, “Are you worried for her?”

“No.” She’d hesitated. “I mean…maybe. I’m not worried for her from him, but because of him. He’s with the mafia.”
“She said he’s out.”
“Yeah, well, is anyone really out?”
Amanda had replied, “She wasn’t in trouble before because of him. Emma and I did that all on our own.”
“I know. I really do, and I feel bad, but I’m just on edge with the guy. He’s deadly. Can’t you see it in his eyes?” Theresa got up for the kitchen. “I need a refill. You?”
I had melted backward, back into the bathroom. When she’d crossed the hallway, the bathroom door was shut.
Glancing over at her now, I remembered how her smiles had seemed more forced that night, her laughter a little louder, and the secretive looks she’d sent Amanda’s way. They were roommates. They were going to talk about me. That was obvious, but I’d been hurt, though I knew I shouldn’t have been.
Theresa worried about me. I tried to keep telling myself it was as simple as that.
I tried.

Excerpt Two

As I held the gun, alone now, some of the old memories came back to me. But they were never very far away.
I had killed two men.
“Jeremy.”
My voice had been soft when I called to him. He’d been raping my roommate, and he was going to kill her. I had no choice. When he turned around and saw the gun in my hand, I shot him. The bullet hit the center of his forehead.
I swallowed now, remembering Mallory as she had watched me, pinned to the wall by his hands. Her eyes had been so lifeless. They were the opposite of Ben’s. He’d been pleading for his life, but minutes earlier he’d been planning to kill Amanda, then me. My stomach churned, remembering that he was going to take me to Franco. He wanted to barter, trade me in for more money, more drugs.
He was the one who killed Mallory, but the Bartel family set all of it in motion.
I drew in a ragged breath, cradling the gun in my hands like a precious baby. This little piece of metal had caused so much havoc in my life, and it was Carter’s weapon of choice. He’d killed plenty with it when he worked for the Mauricio family.
Somehow, I knew this weapon would have a place in our lives again. I didn’t want it to, but I knew it would. And with that last thought, my hand closed over it, and I raised my arms, aiming with my feet apart, my shoulders rolled back. I shot, one after another, until my clip was done.
All except one hit the bullseye. The other one, the outlier, was just outside the inner circle on the target.
I’d have to get better.

Teaser Quotes

A tingle started in the base of my stomach, and it rose up, spreading through my body, warming me as it went, until I was almost salivating for him. When I saw him, I needed to touch him. It had been like this for a year, and I never wanted it to end. I always wanted to thirst for him.

He murmured against my skin, “Why is it that your presence can calm me? Your touch can make me alive, and one little sigh from you makes me want to sleep for days in your embrace?”
I smiled, moving to press a kiss to his ear. “Because you love me.”

Pulling me back into his arms, he nudged my legs farther apart, moving closer, and pressed his lips to the underside of my jaw. He whispered, “Never.” Another kiss to the corner of my lips. “Ever.” A third kiss, his lips resting atop mine and he murmured, “I promise. Nothing will ever happen to you.”

“Because you need to understand. It’s time you know more. You’re mine, Emma. My first allegiance is to you. Things are going to happen now, and I can’t control them. The Mauricio family has always followed me."
Suddenly I realized—he was going back in. A tear formed in my eye, and I ignored it. This was what he was telling me. I swallowed over a lump. “What happens now?”
He didn’t answer at first. Then he let out a soft breath of air and turned, his eyes pained. He said one word: “War.”

I closed my eyes and just felt her. She trailed a hand down my face, tracing my lips. That small touch, so gentle, so loving. That was Emma.

No other woman made me feel like this. It was her, only her. Opening my eyes, I found her watching me and smiling as her chest heaved for air.
"I love you," she murmured.
Goddamn. I kissed her and whispered against her lips, "I love you too."

I closed my eyes and held the man I loved. Resting my forehead to his, I placed my arms on his shoulders as he held my hips. His thumbs rubbed back and forth. This. Right here. He was the most powerful man I knew, and he was all mine.

Author Information

I didn't begin writing until after undergraduate college. There'd been storylines and characters in my head all my life, but it came to a boiling point one day and I HAD to get them out of me. So the computer was booted up and I FINALLY felt it click. Writing is what I needed to do. After that, I had to teach myself how to write. I can't blame my teachers for not teaching me all those years in school. It was my fault. I was one of the students that was wishing I was anywhere but at school! So after that day, it took me lots of work until I was able to put together something that resembled a novel. I'm hoping I got it right since someone must be reading this profile! And I hope you keep enjoying my future stories.

Review: Wolf by Nicole James Book 4 in the Evil Dead MC Story...and woah!!! HAWT Alpha ALERT!

I recently did a review for the first book in this series "Outlaw" and enjoyed Nicole James's writing so when I saw this novel which is book 4 in the series I just had to request it, luckily Netgalley granted my request and gave it to me in exchange for an honest review.

Wolf can be read as a stand alone or as part of the series, although characters from previous books do appear you are definitely not lost if you don't know their back stories. I have not as yet read books 2 and 3 but I will at some point!.

The novel much like Outlaw was a bit of a slow and awkward start but a few chapters in and I was hooked on the characters. I think Nicole James's main strength is her creation of really good characters, they all just come to life for you and you really start to feel true emotion. Her mixing intrigue into her stories is a great break from some of the angst and interaction between the couple as they find their way to each other.

This novel had so much going on that it was a really quick read. I did mention the start was slow but by 50% the whole book got solid and the writing evened out. I would say that the romance in the story was a slow burn between two characters, one who knew what she wanted and was afraid to ask for it and the other was too afraid to commit to know what he had all along. The secondary characters were a great vehicle to clarify the hero's feelings and to give us more of an in-depth look into his psyche. The girls were some great comic relief and added that touch of lightness to the story.

Wolf is our main biker hero...and he is steaming hawt! but in a lot ways he is a young boy in a man's clothing. He suffered emotional damage as a child and it stunted his ability to emotionally grow into an adult. Don't get me wrong Wolf is extremely Alpha and a very dominate male but emotionally it he had trouble connecting to his feelings and creating/or admitting to a deeper relationship. Crystal our heroine is another cup of emotional soup. Crystal although is a strong female character she is so afraid of losing what she wants that she becomes a bit of an doormat for Wolf. It takes a earth shattering event for them to grow into the adults they were meant to be unfortunately it this growth was not made together and there we have our conflict.

I loved how this all played out...it was exciting, the sex was not just steaming but boiling! dirty, wall pounding, hip grinding awesomely wonderful sex! The climax was terrifyingly great! I should mention I wish that NJ had spend a bit more time in Sturgis with the evil doer and added just a tough more suspense...but over all I really enjoyed the book.

This is a strong 3.5 star read for me rounded to 4 and I do give this book a solid recommendation especially for fans of romantic biker fiction. This is a must read series and I will be going back and reading the novels I have missed and will be watching for new releases! Wolf comes out April 28, 2015 so pre order now!

Review: Vision in Silver by Anne Bishop Book 3 in "The Others" series.

A series that not only meets the bar in Urban Fantasy but brings the bar to a whole new level. In this third book in Anne Bishop's innovative series "The Others" she once again brings readers into this world of nature vs man and makes us look at our world through different eyes. I did listen to this novel in audio form and the narrator was incredible.

Anne Bishop joins Ilona Andrews and Jim Butcher in the royalty of Urban Fantasy writers. I know she has worn that crown in regular fantasy fiction for many years but this series switches it up and brings the paranormal to the fore front. Not only does she create a world that startling in it's differences but also in it's sameness to our world, this allows the reader to understand the hidden messages in the story regarding environmental concerns, geopolitical issues and the arrogance and blindness of the human condition. All this in an entertaining, yet very detailed story of Shifters/Vampires and other paranormals getting learning that not all human's are alike.

I have to admit this series has become an obsession for me. I mark on the calendar when the next book is out and count off the days. I was hooked in the first quarter of Written in Red and those hooks remained deep as I read book 2 and now book 3 in this exceptional series. In this novel the tension between the others and the humans comes to a head through violence and subterfuge and yet the "others" also learn that not all human's are equal and they learn to care about the human "pack".

The readers is kept on their toes as they try to puzzle out the first third of the book as so many different things are happening at once but hang in there it all comes to light through tragedy and terrorism. I loved the subtleties that AB uses in moving the story and it's relationship along such as "the" meg turning into "our" Meg and now we have "the" LIzzie and we see after the first inital outburst how the community slowly adapts and adopts her. I am not going to go into the story line too specifically because I don't want to spoil it for those of you who haven't read it but also because the story is so involved you really need to start at book 1 and read through all the novels to experience what this story has to offer.

Admittedly this novel is a vehicle for the story and has allowed AB to introduce different forces and new elements into the story and the focus is not just on Meg and Simon's relationship as in the first two books, yes they are both main characters in the story but you see much more of Officer's Monte's life and times as well as several new characters who have been introduced. This novel is the perfect set up for the next which is going to blow the reader away and I personally can't wait...I mean that I literally can't wait and think Anne Bishop needs to write faster or get a clone so she can dedicate herself to this novel. Hrms..does that sound a bit selfish?? What can I say I adore this series. The writing is exceptional, the story intelligent and the characters are ones that the reader genuinely cares about. I could go on and on and gush further but I will not bore you all, I just need to say I give this my HIGHEST recommendation.

5 golden twinkling stars for this wonderful novel and I urge you to buy the series and enter into a world like no others. You really need to meet Meg, Monte, Lizzy and the rest of the human pack and all the "Others".

NOW LIVE: Only Trick by Jewel E. Ann ...and don't miss my Review below this post

 Meet Trick Roth
in this roller coaster ride
of angst, suspense, & scorching hot HEAT?!

Blurb:

“Don’t Look Back in Anger”

In one night, I lost five years of my life. Here’s what I know …

I was homeless.

I’m a recovering drug addict.

My inked skin crawls from lustful eyes.

I have a serious aversion to women.

My gay partner is a home wrecker.

I own a gun and I’m a damn good shot.

I’m a makeup artist, but it’s an insult to my talent.

I’ve never wanted to possess anything except my Ducati … until I met Darby.

Now here’s what I know since that day in the ER when she pieced me back together … nothing—but a few random thoughts.

My new “friend” is distracting, clingy, and obsessed with acronyms, emojis, and phrases like “breakfast soul mates.”

I didn’t want to like her, but she crawled under my skin and swallowed me whole. Now we’re best friends and she’s my new addiction. I'd drink her from a shot glass, snort her up my nose, or inject her into my veins if I could. What I won’t do … is ever tell her that.

She doesn’t know me … I don’t know me. When those missing years come back, I think she will hate me … I think I will hate me.

My parents named me Patrick Roth, and this is my story.

And now for a peak:

“He’s a makeup artist Gemmie recommended. But he has not, nor ever will be ‘throwing his hat into the ring.’”

“Married?” She grins as if the thought of me being someone’s mistress pleases her. It’s possible all my living relatives are a bit twisted.

I shake my head and smirk. “No, Nana, he’s not married. He’s … gay.”

She throws her head back and slaps her hand against her chest in a fit of laughter. “Oh my goodness!”

“Why is his sexual preference so hysterical?”

“Oh dear…” she wipes the corners of her eyes “…it’s just you have the worst luck in love. When did you find out?”

I reach over and grab a tissue from the sofa table and hand it to her, rolling my eyes. Then I proceed to tell her everything, not leaving out one single detail—including my magnetic attraction to him that shouldn’t be sexual but is.

“Well, dear, you’ve hit the jackpot.”

“What? How have you come to that conclusion from everything I’ve told you?”
“A guy friend who’s gay? I hear they’re every girl’s dream. Except, from the sounds of things, Trick needs to gay up a little more and stop confusing unsuspecting women.”

“Gay up? Who are you?”

She snaps her wrist at me. “I read the tabloids you know.”

“Yeah? Well then you should know that gay doesn’t have a look.”

“That’s the problem. You used to be able to tell by the ear piercing—right for gay left for straight. Or is it the other way around? Anyway, these days everything gets pierced and so it becomes terribly confusing.”

Nana provides nonstop entertainment, and every time I come by to see her I chastise myself for not doing it more often.

“We’re friends, period. And maybe you’re right. If he would ‘gay up’ a little more I might feel the jackpot effect.”

“Yes, shopping, hair, makeup, and chick flicks without competing hormones or competing for the same men.”

“Or wishing he weren’t gay,” I whisper to myself.

She tilts her head to the side, giving me a soft, sympathetic smile. “Or that too, dear.”

Want another look?

“Ahh!” I scream as the closet door opens. My heart explodes and I nearly wet myself. I shuffle my feet against the floor, scooting as far in the corner as I can, hugging my knees to my chest.

“Come.”

I shake my head, holding my breath.

His lip twitches. Then, with what can only be described as a scene from a horror movie, he grabs my ankles and drags … he fucking drags me out of the closet.

“Trick!”

Hoisting me over his shoulder, he smacks my ass so hard I yelp. “I’m thinking sofa.”

“Trick! Stop!” I scream, kicking and flailing as he carries me downstairs. As I pound my fists against his back, something catches my eyes. He has the ties to both my satin and terrycloth robes partially tucked into the waistband of his shorts along with one of his belts.

OH SHIT!

He sets me down with my ass backed up to the sofa, my chest heaving, eyes wide.

“Do you love me?”

I swallow and nod.

“Do you trust me?”

My gaze falters.

“Darby?” He lifts my chin with his finger.

“Do. You. Trust. Me?”

Another swallow, another nod.

“Good.” He lifts my yoga top over my head, wetting his lips as he stares at my breasts. Then he pulls down my pants, leaving me naked. His lips skim up my legs, stopping at my sex, but all he does is just breathe out causing my legs to pinch closer together. Then he inhales. Standing, he watches me—daring me to run again.

Review: Only Trick by Jewel E. Ann *a * HAVE* to read recommendation*

Read in April, 2015, read count: 1

What a COVER!! Is that not some of the best abs you have seen in a while...purrrr.. Just seeing that I already put my request into Netgalley for the ARC of this novel. Then I read the blurb, one of the best I've read..it reached out grabbed me and *made* me *have* to read the book. Luckily, Netgalley gave me the book in exchange for an honest review.

So I went into the book not really getting how this was going to turn into a hawt hetro romance. I don't mind a M/M book but something told me this was going to end up an M/F. I read the first chapter and I was gone...hopped on the roller-coaster and didn't get off until the very end. It is a GREAT book. So different from anything I've read and I read a LOT. I don't want to get into any details of the book because going in just reading the blurb I think is the ultimate way to experience the book.

Jewel E. Ann is a new writer to me and I was incredibly impressed, her creativity and ability to write the unexpected moves her into my  *must* read more of her books column. She brings all her characters to life but it is really Trick's book. He is the centre of the story and the main vehicle used to move the story along at a good pace. I really connected to Trick more than I did to Darby. She got a bit whiny at times and insecure at the strangest places. In the end it all wraps up nicely and I ended up feeling she really "found" herself through the entire experience.

I started this book at bedtime and couldn't put it down I was so immersed in the story I hadn't realized how much time had flown by and it was the wee hours of morning. It was that good.

I am giving this book 4.5 dazzling stars. I loved it and it gets t'irla's highest recommendation *YOU HAVE TO READ IT* It is currently available for pre-order on Amazon.com and will be LIVE April 13, 2015! Start your spring off right and gift yourself 'Only Trick'...you just need to meet him!

Release Book Tour and Review: Silver Bastard by Joanna Wylde Book 1 of Silver Valley Series

Meet Puck & Becca in SILVER BASTARD!

Now Live!

Barnes & Noble:  http://bit.ly/19pOdnS

Blurb:

First in the new Silver Valley series from the New York Times bestselling author of the Reapers Motorcycle Club Novels.

Fourteen months. For fourteen months, Puck Redhouse sat in a cell and kept his mouth shut, protecting the Silver Bastards MC from their enemies. Then he was free and it was time for his reward--full membership in the club, along with a party to celebrate. That's when he saw Becca Jones for the first time and set everything in motion. Before the night ended he'd violated his parole and stolen her away from everything she knew.

Five years. It was five years ago that Puck destroyed Becca and saved her all in one night. She's been terrified of him ever since, but she's even more terrified of the monsters he still protects her from... But Becca refuses to let fear control her. She's living her life and moving forward, until she gets a phone call from the past she can't ignore. She has to go back, and there's only one man she can trust to go with her--the ex-con biker who rescued her once before.

Puck will help her again, but this time it'll be on his terms. No more lies, no more tears, and no more holding back what he really wants...

“What the fuck happened out here?” Danielle asked, her arm suddenly around my shoulders. I immediately felt better. Danielle and I balanced each other out perfectly—she was batshit crazy and insanely optimistic. Make that dangerously, recklessly optimistic.  As for me, I spent nearly all my time focused on staying sane and getting ahead. That didn’t leave much time for things like actually living my life.

We’d met each other our senior year of high school, when she’d offered to drive me back and forth to town in her shiny new Jeep Wrangler. This spared me from the horror of sharing a battered school bus with every hormonal teen living in the greater Callup  metropolitan area. After a particularly harrowing ride home in her car one night (long story short, it took us six hours to travel thirty miles and by the time we pulled into town, we had matching tattoos of chipmunks wearing scarves) I decided it was my job to keep her from accidentally killing herself.

In return, she pushed me to do fun things, reminding me at least once a week that I was only twenty-one and perhaps the fate of the universe didn’t literally rest on whether or not I balanced my checkbook to the penny. Along the way, she taught me how to do smoky eye makeup, how not to freak out when a guy asked me to dance, and how to “borrow” music off the Internet. (When I pointed out that “borrowing” music was stealing, she agreed and started using iTunes for her downloads. To finance this, she “borrowed” her dad’s credit card.)

“Well, apparently me and Blake no longer work here,” I said, leaning my head against her. “I don’t know if you’re fired or not.”

“Fuck that,” Danielle declared. “Eva can kiss my ass. If you’re out, I’m out.”

“You weren’t even part of it,” I protested.

“I don’t care. You’re a much better waitress than I am. If she fired you, no way I’d last there anyway. Let’s go get drunk!”

Don't forget to read my review!!!

Review: Silver Bastard by Joanna Wylde Book 1 in the Silver Valley Series

WOW! What an amazing read. I'm a great fan of Joanna Wylde's Reaper's MC series and have been looking forward to this novel since I finished Picnic's story. I am definitely not disappointed! I have to thank Netgalley for allowing me to read this for an honest review so my wait is not quite as long as your's. *smile* It is good to be a blogger *grin* Oh and I have to say the cover is major HAWT!! I actually have it as the wallpaper on my desktop.

Silver Bastard is definitely a stand alone novel and though there are appearances from characters in the Reaper's MC series you do not need to have read that series to enjoy this novel.

JW writes some of the best MC characters in the genre today, they are so multi faceted and she allows them to grow as the story progresses. I also like how the backgrounds of the characters are filled in quickly so that the reader understands why the different characters act the way they do. Although this novel is very much character driven the story itself is more than just a vehicle for the characters to get together. There is an edge, and grit that I look forward to in MC novels. These dark elements give the adventure and intrigue in the story more depth which allows the characters to show who they are or who they were and how they have changed.

The novel is very fast paced and I know I couldn't put it down...I admit to seeing the sky lighten in the morning because I was up all night reading. Sure sign of a good book! Now for my warnings. Yes, there are dark elements in this book including reluctant sex and underage sex. This is not used gratuitously and is needed for you to understand the characters and how they got to be where they are and how the relationships of many of the characters connect.

I have to say it was really great to see the male lead Puck be the one to develop feelings first. This is so unusual in today's romances we usually have the female leads being all angsty over the hero. This novel give this love story a really novel twist and is just too good to miss.

My rating is a 4.5 stars! and I totally can't wait for the next on in the series. Thanks Joanna for another great MC read! Keep them coming. A gold star recommendation from me...so mark on your calendars APRIL 7, 2015 for release day...or better yet preorder now so you won't forget!!!

Release Celebration + Review: FULL CONTACT by Sarah Castille book 3 in Redemption Series

Full Contact
The third standalone book in the Redemption series

by Sarah Castille
is now
LIVE!

This is one of my favourite series and I'm so happy to announce the release.  I have included 2! yep 2 excerpts to introduce you to the story and if you keep reading after this post you will find my review.  Now hang on and meet Ray and Sia.

Blurb:

Ray wraps his arms around me and holds me tight as if something terrible has happened and he doesn’t want to let me go.

Full Contact. This is how Ray speaks when his emotions overwhelm him. I melt into his stillness. His body is hot and hard, his breath warm on my neck. He smells of leather and sweat, sex and sin. Nothing can tear me away.

When you can’t resist the one person who could destroy you…

Sia O’Donnell can’t help but push the limits. She secretly attends every underground MMA fight featuring The Predator, the undisputed champion. When he stalks his prey in the ring, Sia is mesmerized. He is dominant and dangerous and every instinct tells her to run.

Every beautiful thing Ray “The Predator” touches he knows he’ll eventually destroy. Soft, sweet and innocent, Sia is the light to Ray’s darkness-and completely irresistible. From the moment he lays eyes on her, he knows he’s going to have to put his dark past behind him to win her body and soul.

“Clothes off and prepare to be searched.” His voice is warm, lush, and filled with sensual promise. But I am oh so aware that, dominant as he is, he’s mindful of my issue with being undressed. A warm, fluttery feeling spreads from my belly, beating back the memories.

“Help me.”

And he does. His hands over my hands, we slide my shirt and bra up and over my head, his fingers tangling with mine, caressing my body as I am bared for his pleasure. When we get to my shoulders, I raise my arms and Ray takes over. Slow and sensual, his fingers glide over my skin, filling me with the sensation of his touch. When he reaches my hands, he yanks the clothing over my head and tosses it to the floor with a victory growl.

“Back in position.” He smooths his hands down my arms and places my palms against the cool metal surface of the shop wall. And then he is everywhere, his hands roaming over my body, setting fire to my skin. When he has thoroughly touched and kissed every inch of my exposed skin, he tugs out my ponytail holder. My hair fans out across my back in a silken wave.

“Fuck. I love your hair.” He strokes his fingers through the strands. “Don’t put it up when you’re with me.”

“Guess that means I won’t be with you when I’m exercising or doing ink.” With a grin, I look back over my shoulder, but my smile fades at the intensity of his stare.

“You know what I do to girls who give me attitude?” He kicks my legs apart, then smooths his hand over my ass.

Desire, dark and delicious, curls through my body. “What do you do?”
His hand tightens, fingers digging into my flesh. “I spank them.”

I make a soft sound, deep in my throat. Morbid fascination, dan- gerous desire—everything I’ve imagined but never thought could be real, he offers with a brush of his fingertips. “I’ve never been spanked,” I whisper. “But I think I might like it.”

His deep, satisfied rumble pulses between my legs. “You’re gonna kill me, sayin’ things like that.” He circles my waist with his hands, his fingers lingering on the waistband of my jeans, skimming along the inside, his touch an erotic tickle that makes me writhe against him.

“Don’t move.”

“Then don’t do things that make me want to push you to the ground and tear off your clothes.”

He chuckles, amused. “We’ll get to that later. Right now, you’re taking off your jeans and I’m gonna help you, like last time.”

With a vicious tug, he reaches around and opens the zipper, then positions my hands on my hips and covers them with his palms, guiding me as I push down my jeans. Although he is working around my trigger, he is still totally in control, and I tremble, overwhelmed with the knowledge that for the first time, I can have what I want without the past getting in the way.

He crouches beside me, offering his shoulder as I toe off my shoes and kick my jeans away. Then he licks his lips and barks, “Back to the wall.”

My mouth waters at his tone—low, commanding, authoritative. Intensely erotic. He is so unlike any man I have ever been with. I turn without thinking, curiosity overriding reticence and my fear of losing control.

Crouched in front of me, Ray glides his hands up my legs, his fingers drawing lazy circles over the sensitive skin of my inner thighs, turning my thoughts to the throbbing between my legs. Unable to resist, I run my hands through the soft fuzz on his head.

He looks up, his eyes hooded with desire, then stands, dwarfing me with his massive body. With one hand pressed against the wall beside me, he glides a finger along the edge of my silky red panties, his lips curling into a satisfied smile when I whimper.

“You like red panties?”

“I like what’s hidden by red panties.” His naughty finger glides over my mound, brushing over the thin slip of fabric covering my aching clit. My breath catches in my throat, and I arch my back and moan.

“You want more?” His voice rumbles in my ear as he slides his hand down to cup my sex.

“Yes.”

He wraps one arm around my waist, pulling my body against him. Then he kicks my legs apart.

“Open for me.”

Shshshsh one more excerpt....*looks around to make sure no one in charge of the tour is looking*

Ray grabs my wrists and pins them to the mat over my head, his body angled over me. My breath catches in my throat, and I steel myself for the memories, the black rush, the heart-pounding fear, but it doesn’t come. Instead, a red haze settles over my vision, and I press my lips together and buck my hips, throwing him slightly forward.

Bad plan. Now his groin is only inches away from my face. He’s still wearing his jeans, which means that bulge isn’t a cup.

“Ray...”

His face softens. “I hurt you.”

“Yes, you hurt me. Keeping secrets hurts me. It makes me feel like you don’t respect me. And it makes me feel like I can’t trust you. So maybe you could return to your proper seat now. Tray table up.”

He shifts down, settling his weight over my hips, but he doesn’t release my hands. “I hurt you. Means you care.”

I swallow hard and meet his gaze. “You hurting me means I was being stupid. Things were going where I didn’t want them to go. Now I’ve had a wake-up call. You have secrets you can’t share. You need to protect your secrets. I need to be with someone I can trust, and I need to stand on my own two feet. It’s just not going to work between us.”

His gaze darkens, searing me to the core. “You want to be done? Or are you scared and trying to push me away?”

The air shifts between us, electrifying, tightening my nipples and heating my blood. I am hyperaware of his thighs tucked against my hips, carrying most of his weight as he sits astride me in a dominant MMA position. My wrists, hot under his palms, press against the cool mat, restrained in a way I could never have imagined allowing them to be restrained. My chest rises and falls twice for every one of Ray’s breaths, and my core tightens. The innuendo isn’t lost on me. God, yes. I want to be done in the carnal sense of the word. But only by Ray. And I don’t really want to let him go.

“I don’t want to lose you.”

Ray’s hands tighten on my wrists, and he leans down and brushes a kiss over my lips. “I don’t want to lose you either, but I live in a dangerous world. I’ve got stuff in my life that would make your head spin. I need to protect you from that, and I’ll do what it takes to keep you safe, even if it means you hate me for it, because for the first time in my life, I want something more than doing my duty. I want a life and I want you in it. I’ve got one bad guy to catch and then I’m free. And after I’m done and after what went down this evening, you’ll never have to worry about being safe again.”

Finally, he releases my hands but I don’t move. Heat sweeps through my belly. I feel both vulnerable and curiously safe lying beneath him. My gaze shifts from his intense gaze to his sensual lips, and my breasts swell, remembering the touch of his hands, the gentle press of his lips. He wants me. Not just today, but tomorrow and the tomorrow after that.

“You make it sound like I don’t have a choice about being with you.”

“You don’t.” He leans down and kisses me with a savage fierceness that takes my breath away
