Kylie Scott DEEP blog tour||DEEP Releases today!!!

Welcome to the Blog Tour for DEEP Kylie Scott's newest release in the Stage Dive Series...I've been waiting anxiously for this...here is an excerpt for DEEP!

“C’mon. How have you been, really? What’s been going on with you?” he pushed. I frowned at him and he frowned right back. “Liz, please.”
I groaned in defeat. “All right, I suck.”
“Why do you suck?”
“So very many reasons.” I pushed my hair back from my face—no more hiding. “Pregnancy sucks. It’s natural, my ass. I finally stop throwing up, but I’m tired all the time. Giving up coffee was horrendous. None of my clothes fit right because of these stupid breasts, and they ache constantly. I have to pee like every thirty seconds, and then to top it off, I cry every time the Healthy Hound ad comes on. It’s ridiculous”
Little wrinkles appeared either side of his nose. “You cry at a dog food ad?”
“Yes. The puppies jump all over each other to get to their mother and it’s just so beautiful, with their cute little tails wagging and everything.”
He just stared at me.
“I know its psycho, Ben. Believe me, I’m well aware of this.”
“Hey, it’s fine.” He covered a smile with his hand. Too late, the bastard.
“You try dealing with all these hormones going apeshit. Crap. Apeshoot.”
“Apeshoot?”
“I’m trying not to swear,” I explained. “You want the first word our child comes out with to be something bad?”
“No. Gotcha.” The man was incredibly bad at hiding a grin. “No swearing.”

Caught your attention?  No?  okie one more excerpt.

“Where have you been?” My sister rushed forward, catching me up in a tight hug. “I’ve been trying to call you all day. We checked everywhere and couldn’t find you.”

“Sorry. I just needed some alone time.” I squeezed her back, unable to stop from smiling. The thought of Anne turning her back on me had scared me more than I liked to admit.
“Well, I get you might want that.” She stepped back. “But you could have told someone.”
“You can’t just disappear like that.” And Ben kept right on frowning. “Shit, Liz, you’re pregnant.”
“Don’t upset her,” snapped Anne.
Ben ignored her. “I don’t know what the hell’s going on in your head. But you need to let me know where you are.”
My eyebrows went up and my mouth opened, ready to rip him a new one.
“She doesn’t answer to you. She’ll let you know if and when she decides to let you know,” said Mal, laying down the law to his bandmate before turning my way. “You will text your sister next time you decide to go wandering for a day, understood?”
My mouth, it still hung open.
“Christ, man.” Over and over, Ben’s hands rolled into tight fists before releasing again. “Can you cut the shit and get off my back for a fucking minute?”
“Don’t swear at him.” My usually sensible and staid sister poked a finger dead center in Ben’s broad chest. “You’re the one that caused this mess, thank you very much. She might still be a little young and naive, but you’re definitely old enough to know better.”
“That’s right.” Standing about as tall as a skyscraper, despite only coming up to Ben’s nose, Mal stared him down. Or up. Whatever. “This is a family matter. You can leave, thanks.”

Excerpt Reveal: FULL CONTACT by Sarah Castille book 3 in the REDEMPTION Series My REVIEW to follow..don't miss it

Excerpt:

His gaze drops to my lips, and I am suddenly and painfully aware of his body pressed tightly against mine, his arms around me, and his heartbeat quickening, as if it’s oblivious to the fact the danger has passed. I’ve never been this close to him, never seen his eyes so dark, never imagined I would feel the power thrumming through his body. Because aren’t predators supposed to kill?
Unspent adrenaline screams through my veins, turning my legs liquid. I ache with a desire I shouldn’t feel. A painful, desperate hunger for a man I should not want—a man whose violent nature both arouses and frightens me.
“Ray...” His name is a whispered plea on my lips.
He threads his hand through my hair, tugging my head back so hard my eyes tear, but I have never felt such pleasure in pain.
“Christ. I’m barely in control as it is.”

A soft moan escapes my lips. I am hot—so hot, I might combust— and before I can stop myself, I rock up, thread my hands through his hair, and touch my lips to his in a gentle kiss.
Ray stiffens and growls, the sound vibrating through my chest. He deepens the kiss, his tongue sliding between my lips to explore every inch of my mouth. My heart speeds to double time, but it is the way he holds me still—one hand tangled in my hair, his other hand firm around my back—that sends a wave of liquid heat through my veins. His lips are firm and demanding, forcing my mouth open as his tongue plunges deeper, stroking me into oblivion. Possessive. Demanding. Unyielding. A Predator’s kiss.
Sliding my hands over his magnificent chest, taut and hard, and then along his broad shoulders, I drink him in with a never-ending thirst. Hot and hungry, my tongue tangles with his, questing, seeking, wanting more as I grind my hips against his thigh in an entirely uncharacteristic display of need.
My actions inflame him. In one smooth movement, he spins us and backs me into the cold, brick wall. His arm tightens so hard I can barely breathe. And then he ravages my mouth, his tongue questing deep, as if he has lost control and the beast within will settle for nothing less than devouring me.
I have never really, truly been kissed.
Until now.
I feel him with every inch of my skin, every breath I take. My breasts ache for his touch, my clit throbs for his attention, and my heart pounds in warning.
But when I moan into his mouth, he tenses and pulls away. “Condition I’m in now...it’s like after a fight...I got no gentleness in me.”
Bloodlust. The aftereffect of a fight. The edge of control. But I have watched Ray for so long, lusted after him for so many nights, imagined I was the one in the ring pinned to the mat, I do the unthinkable and lean up and nip his lip. Hard.

Stalk Sarah Here:

Review: Full Contact by Sarah Castille Book3 of the Redemption Series

I was so excited to receive this novel from Sarah Castille via Netgalley for an honest review since I am a huge fan of her writing and this series in particular. I was even more excited that I got everything I was looking for from this book and more!

The series is based around the MMA gym Redemption and it's fighters. In the first two books we get the story of the owner of the gym and it's top ranked fighter, in this story we are branching out to another one of the fighters who fights strictly underground. We met him in "On the Ropes" his fight name is Predator and he definitely is one. The heroine is the sister of Fuzzy the cop who teaches classes at Redemption, Sia.

In this novel SC adds a bit more darkness into her storyline and into the characters themselves and a more gritty feel to the gym and fights. Her main male character Ray aka Predator is surrounded by mystery but has a definite BDSM leaning. That being said those initials were never mentioned in this book nor any of the words connected with them. SC's point I think is that a bit of tying up and control isn't really BDSM play. The hurt during sex has roots that are pointed out and resolved before the end of the book and I think the spanking threats were pure sexy-time fun. I know RT's review compared the book to "Fifty Shades of Grey" but I think they are way off. It seems any book with the slightest BDSM elements get that comparison and it is not true. This story, setting and characters are nothing like those in FSoG and I think it is a disservice to the author and potential readers to draw this parallel. *ok off my high horse*

I enjoyed Ray, he is not the most verbal of hero's and his alphaness borders on Neanderthal but with his work history (what we learn of it) and his military background it really isn't that unbelievable. Ray is very much a control freak and is a definite "MINE" guy but I think if you love over the top alphas like I do you will love "The Predator". Sia too is a damaged personality, a survivor who hasn't be able to let go of her trauma and at times comes across a bit spineless and I admit that did get on my nerves a bit. I got a bit annoyed when she kept comparing the Ray "Predator" to wild life predators. I got it the first time by the third time I was over having the parallel drawn. By the end of the story Sia had an epiphany as she grew throughout the book and I liked her and related to her, she was a great mate for Ray.

Overall I enjoyed the edgeyness to this novel and liked all the characters. I think using the underground fights as a vehicle to not only move the story forward but to mark the changes in the main characters relationships was genius. Thanks for another great read Sarah Castille! A 4 star read for me and a recommendation to those who enjoy MMA novels with a bit of darkness. Can't wait for the next book...I hear it is going to be about Shayla! woot!

From the New York Times bestselling author of Jake Undone, comes a full-length standalone companion novel and sequel.

A different side to the story: Jake’s side.

“We’re getting a new roommate,” they said.

I thought nothing of it...until she walked in the door. Her hand trembled in mine as she looked at me with fearful eyes. My entire world spun on its axis.

Nina...

It was a mismatch made in heaven: innocent girl from the boonies moves in with tattooed, pierced, bad boy engineer.

I came up with a bet, a plan to tutor her in math and coach her through her phobias. What I wasn't betting on was becoming addicted to her.

But I was living a double life on weekends, and once she found out about it, she’d be gone.

I had to protect myself and that meant one thing: I couldn't fall in love.

In Jake Understood, pivotal scenes from Jake Undone are retold from Jake’s point of view combined with all-new material from both the past and present time where Jake Undone left off. It can stand alone but if both books are read, should follow Jake Undone.

Review: Outlaw by Nicole James Book 1 in The Outlaw Series

I admit I love Biker books, let me qualify this full length biker books with a hint of dark so when I read the burb for this on Netgalley I had to request it. Luckily they did give me the novel in exchange for an honest review. So I started reading the book. First couple of chapters I though hrms....seems a bit choppy and kinda "Sons of Anarchyesque" but I had to keep reading cause that is just the way I'm built:)

Over all Outlaw had a lot of potential, I like the premise and storyline. I thought over all the characters were ok but I did love the secondary characters in the MC. But there were some pretty big issues.

I need to start by saying that there are definitely triggers in this book for some people and I think the publisher should have a warning marked in the blurb. This is not the writer's fault so...on to the issues

1. Choppy: the story felt disjointed as if it was several stories blended together but not a smooth blend.
2. Consistancy: Especially in Cole's character it was like he had a Multiple personality disorder or he was playing at trying to be something he was not. In the last 1/3 of the book it was like he was trying to channel one of Kristen Ashley's alpha main characters as his speech patterns sounded like signature KA.
3. Too Discriptive: In places it seemed to drag and I think it was because NJ got overly discriptive in places.
4. Believablity: Several issues here..Angel was abused and raped. Taken by a biker she didn't know and was scared out of her mind ..2 nights later she was f&cking him. HUH? Mack was never held accountable for a 3 year seperation WHAT? Natalie connects with Mack and falls into bed with him in 24 hours...nothing in her character to that point signaled that this was part of her personality. It was like all the characters were suddenly someone else in the last 1/2 of the book.
5. Stubborn: ok, there is stubborn and there is ridiculous. Angel's stubborness after finding out about Cole went on way way way too long..was just crazy and got to the point where I was just over it.

Don't get me wrong there was much to like about the book. Cole although a bit to soft in places was a likable character. Angel was someone you could sympathize with although I don't think I really connected with the way I did with Cole. Cole's dirty talk was swoon worthy and HAWT! Meeting some of the other clubs was cool, I"m assuming Nicole James is going to go somewhere in future books with these clubs and that is why there were introduced. There was so much potential in this novel and pieces of it were extremely good. Unfortunately it was in desperate need of editing both for story and for typos.

I gave the novel 3 stars mostly because I asked myself "Would I read the next in the series" and I answered yes if it was .99 or less. So there was enough in the book to make me curious. Would I recommend it...not at this point in the series.

Review: MAYHEM and RIOT by Jamie Shaw Book 1 and 2 in "Mayhem" series.

I so love a good rock romance. Ok, the stories are not necessary all very original but when you have a great writer who can create wonderfully lovable characters and weave a plot that brings a unique essence to a much written story line you know you have something special. Jamie Shaw's debut novel is special. I myself am a fan of rock bands and she brought all my dreams to life in this novel.

Mayhem is not just a rock band story it is also a coming of age story in many ways. We have a rock star Adam, literally bumping into our heroine Rowan who is a fan just trying to get into his concert and sparks fly. Though a series of coincidence and deception we find Rowan tutoring Adam and joining him on the road. It is here we meet the rest of the cast of quirky characters and learn to love them all through Rowan's eyes.

This is a sweet love story that uses humor and circumstance as vehicles to move the story along. Much of the story happens in just a few weeks but we understand that sometimes (especially in romance novels) it doesn't take long to fall in love. There is some angst but it isn't over the top.

I had no expectations going into this novel since I hadn't even read the blurb but I totally enjoyed it and know that Jamie Shaw is going to be a name to watch out for when checking out future book buys. The next book in this series is already on my TBR list and I can't wait to read it.

A 4 star review for this new author and I know she is going to be force in the contemporary romance genre if she keeps creating great stories such as this.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In Riot book 2 in the Mayhem series you have author Jamie Shaw venturing further into writing after her successful debut with Mayhem. Mayhem was a sweet rock star read and very enjoyable. Riot is a different kettle of fish altogether. It is wonderful to see an author grow before your eyes. Riot is a slightly darker story with the main characters more damaged and more needy, both trying to figure out their lives in very unhealthy ways. Riot is a coming of age story with a very different message then Mayhem. You do not need to have read Mayhem to enjoy this novel but your will have a fully rounded views of all the characters if you do.
Our main protagonists Dee and Joel both have terrible self images and their past behaviours reflect the darkness in both their characters. In both characters we have a much deeper sense of who they are and why their behaviours are not healthy. JS does a wonderful job of eliminating all the sweetness and light that Mayhem had and giving this novel a grittier feel. We also gain more insight into the other band members and their personalities and the reader definitely wants to learn even more than the short looks at each member that this novel allows. We also have a tad more angst in this novel but the angst is internalized and makes the characters act out and hurt each other which made for a great story.
Jamie Shaw has shown she is more than a one trick pony and can dig deeper and grow with each novel she writes, she has me anxious for Chaos and to see what she will spring on us next.
I enjoyed this novel even more than Mayhem which I rated 4 stars so I will have to give this novel 4.25 and nod to the writing style of this author and a recommendation..if you love Rock Band love stories this novel is one you can not miss!
Review: Deception by D.B. Reynolds Book 9/Book 1 Vampires in America: The Vampire War
OK, I admit it..I have a girl crush on D.B. Reynolds after all she has given me Raphael my ultimate book boyfriend and 8 awesome novels all of which are on my favourite shelf. She has also given me one of the most Kick-ass Heroines since Cat and Kate Daniels. So when a new book is announced I stalk her...I *need* to see cover releases, blurb releases and any excerpts she allows us to see. I adore that she teases us with novellas in between her full novel releases so we can have our Vampires in America "fix". Now she has spun off a series at the same time as continuing my beloved ViA. Vampires in America: The Vampire Wars was given to me by Netgalley for an honest review so thank you Bellebooks and D.B. Reynolds.
What can I say, this book kicks ass!!! Everything I expect from DBR and more. In the last several books the invasion from the European Vamps have been a nigh. In Vincent we had our first overt attack but in Deception we have the first real "shot" fired. Target one.....my beloved Raphael and that is all I"m gonna share about the book cause you *HAVE* to read it to appreciate it. I will say it is definitely a Raphael/Cyn book but we gets lots of time with Juro, Lucia, Elke and Ke.....umm...Juro's twin brother. *grin* you have to read to find out his name...and I will give one more tid bit....Elke finds a love interest....yup *wiggles* I love it!!!!
Usually at book 9 in a series you have at least 1 so/so book that is more a story vehicle than a sink your teeth in and hang on for the ride book but so far DBR has made each book a home run! Each book moves the story in what you know is a finely manipulated well written way, DBR's continuity person deserves a hot fudge Sundae each day as a reward for keeping the story clean with so many characters and threads of a story it must be hell to keep them straight and remember each exact detail.
I adore all the characters in ViA and love how each one has thier own individuality but are all easy to relate to and totally likeable. There is a vampire every reader will love:) ... In this novel we do meet one new character who is human and it seems we are going to be seeing more of him in future books and we meet a "blast from the past" who is other...*evil grin* you will have to read the book to see to what I'm hinting:)
This book gets a huge shining 5 star rating and has me so excited for the next book I don't know how I am going to last...Alliance please I need you soon! If you have not yet been introduced to Vampires in American it is really time you start or if you are a fan this is a DO NOT MISS read. Deception releases March 31, 2015! Pre order NOW!
B.N. Toler's WHERE ONE GOES releases today!!!!!
Where One Goes
B N Toler
I was never one to believe in spirits—until six years ago, when a bone-chilling accident changed my life…forever.
My name is Charlotte, but most people call me Char…and I have a special gift.
I talk to the dead.
Make no mistake, I can’t summon them. I’m only able to see and speak to the spirits that linger when they’re unable to crossover. They’re somehow weighted to the world with unfinished affairs. And for the last six years, I’ve relentlessly used my gift to help their lost souls.
But it’s come at a price. My life is dark. Feeling despondent, I’ve begun to give up. And in helping the dead, I’ve realized I haven’t allowed myself to live. With no money, no place to go, and most importantly… no hope, I’ve decided there is only one option—to end it all.
But fate is a funny thing. One minute, I’m about to leap to my death, and the next, I’m saved by Ike McDermott. The strong, striking soldier stopped me from putting an end to my despair. He’s the kind of man that smiles and brightens an entire room. Sweet and gentle.
He is my savior.
And he’s dead.
We’ve made an agreement. He’ll help me find a place to stay and a new job if I’ll help him with his unfinished business so that he may crossover.
Ike’s unfinished matter involves his twin brother, George. George has been falling apart since Ike’s death and Ike has not been able to compel himself to crossover in peace until he knows George will be okay.
When I agreed to help, little did I know that I’d fall in love with the charming folks of Bath County, and…Ike and George McDermott.
Now, as both brothers own equal parts of my heart, I am faced with a cruel and unfair predicament. In saving George, I must let go of Ike.
But how does one let go of half of their heart?
Ike and Charlotte
It’s nine in the morning and Charlotte is still sleeping. She looks different with dry hair in the light of day. Her dark hair is shiny and soft, fanned out over the pillows. Her lips are now pink, not blue as they were last night. She’s on her stomach, the blanket just barely covering her ass. Her skin looks so smooth and creamy, I’d give anything to touch it. I know I shouldn’t be staring at her like this, but I can’t help it. I may be dead, but I’m still a man—I like to look at beautiful women.
I have to get her up. She needs to get to her truck, and we need to get her a job immediately.
“Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!” I yell, and clap my hands in front of her face. She jolts up, her eyes frantic. I get a great shot of her breasts, and dear God, they are beautiful, I mean, call me an asshole, but I have no shame in staring at her before she jerks the blanket up, covering herself. Man, I miss the feel of a woman. Their softness, their warmness.
“I’m going to kill you!” she shouts.
“Little late for that, babe,” I reply and jerk my chin. She tosses a pillow at me. It goes right through me and lands on the floor.
I yawn. “Ouch.”
“Don’t wake me up like that ever again!” she shouts. “I don’t have any clothes on!”
“Really? I hadn’t noticed,” I mock confusion.
“Asshole!”
“My, my, we’re grumpy in the morning,” I chuckle as she stands, wrapping the blanket around her. The dead can still get hard-ons. I have to turn from her, so she doesn’t see mine as I mentally lick her long, lean body. Damn!
She grabs her bag and scurries into the bathroom, slamming the door behind her. Apparently, mornings are not her forte. When she exits the bathroom, she’s wearing worn jeans with holes all over and a black tank top. Her dark hair is down and she’s put on a little makeup. Although she still looks tired and frail, she looks refreshed, and that makes me happy. I don’t know her well, but I hope when all is said and done, I can help her find some happiness.
“How much did you see?” she asks as she zips her backpack up.
“Not much.” I shrug and she sighs with relief. “Just your breasts,” I add nonchalantly, and she throws a hair brush at me, which zips right through me and hits the wall.
“Thought we already established that won’t work.”
“You suck,” she huffs and flings her backpack over her shoulder.
“They were really nice, Charlotte.” I compliment her and she blushes, but she can’t help but smile.
“You’re lucky my gift is limited to seeing and hearing you. If I could touch you, you’d be talking in soprano right now.”
Fresh, dynamic, funny, emotional, sad, at times dark but chalk full of romance and characters who jump off the page. This is a home run and too good to miss!
I've been a B.N. Toler fan from her first novel to this one. Each book gets better and better. What is unique to all her books is a fresh perspective of genre's that have become predictable. Her view of paranormal romance gives the genre a boost especially when she wraps it around a wonderful contemporary romance.
What made this novel reach my favourites shelf is the emotional connection I made with each characters. This connection brought me to tears pages after I was laughing out loud and wound it's way into my heart. The characters of Ike and George are fabulous...as each one has his strengths and weaknesses. Charlotte is a character with depth but doesn't wear her heart on her sleeve. Her "difference" makes her experience the world in different ways. The trauma that all three main characters and what ultimately brings them all together is dark and might touch a trigger to those who have experienced a recent death.
I have to talk about the sex...or lack there of in this book. There are no graphic sex scenes but it is one of the MOST romantic books I have read in years. I experienced the characters attraction and sexuality through the emotion the writer generated and I didn't miss the graphic sex at all. In fact is was a pleasant change since it seems every book is trying to out sex the next lately.
I must mention the secondary characters of Anna and Sniper. I hope B.N. will give us their story some day and I would love to revisit the Mercer's and Ike and George's parents again. The town where this story is set would make a wonderful backdrop to further novels.
Thanks B.N. for giving me this ARC for an honest review.
I have rated this novel a 5 star read and a do not miss.. Beat those winter blahs with this fantastic romance that will make you "feel" again. This for me is my number one Spring pick for 2015.
Author Bio
B N Toler lives in Virginia. When she's not reading or writing, she's thinking about reading or writing. Before she became a self-proclaimed writer, she worked as a real estate agent and as an orthodontic technician. **She will notice your teeth before your eyes or hair or anything.**
She enjoys shopping (way too much) and is on a first name basis with several employees at the local Target in her town.
She loves music,(bluegrass, country, 80's, actually she loves most music ~her favorite song is American Pie by Don McLean and she worships anything that is Elvis and Johnny Cash and Eric Church) dancing, (even though she sucks at it)reading, writing, eating (too much) sleeping late, (which she rarely gets to do) and laughing. If you can make her laugh, she will love you forever.
